Climate Change in Numbers

Why is Climate Action So Important

50

Percent Increase in CO2

Global emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) have increased by almost 50% since 1990.

19

CM Rise in Oceans

From 1901 to 2010, the global average sea level rose by 19cm as oceans expanded.

1

Temperature Increase

From 1880 to 2012, average global temperature increased by 0.85°C. To put this into perspective, for each 1 degree of temp. increase, grain yields decline by about 5 per cent.

40

MT Yield Reductions

Maize, wheat and other major crops have experienced yield reductions at the global level of 40 megatonnes per year between 1981 and 2002.
